Common questions
What happens when an employee leaves?
You revoke their credential in the console and it stops working everywhere, immediately. No re-keying, no collecting keys that may already have been copied, no locksmith invoice.
Do staff need a card, or can they use a phone?
Either. UniFi Access supports mobile credentials, NFC cards and fobs, and PIN entry, and you can mix them — phones for office staff, cards for the warehouse, a PIN for the cleaner.
Can doors unlock on a schedule?
Yes. Doors can auto-unlock during business hours and lock outside them, with separate rules for holidays and for individual groups of staff.
Does it work with the cameras?
Yes — that is the advantage of keeping both in the UniFi ecosystem. A door event and the video of that door at that second line up in one place, which is exactly what you want when something goes missing.
What about fire code and emergency egress?
Access control governs entry, never exit. Egress hardware stays code-compliant and doors release on the building's fire alarm. We work with your door hardware or your locksmith on anything that touches life safety.
Can the yard gate be on the same system as the doors?
Yes. Most gate operators have an input for an access control device, which is how we tie them in. The gate then opens on the same credentials and schedules as your doors, and every opening is logged. We check your operator during the site survey.
